Project Officer – Human Rights Defense Curaçao
Human Rights Defense Curaçao (HRDC) is a non-governmental organization, working for the
protection and promotion of human rights of all inhabitants of Curaçao. Our vision is to strive for an
equitable, intercultural, and inclusive Curaçaoan society in which the universal rights and freedoms
of all inhabitants are truly respected. This is irrespective of their gender, ethnicity, age, or legal
status.
Position Description
HRDC is looking for a Project Officer. The Project Offer is responsible for the planning,
implementation, monitoring and evaluation of assigned projects of HRDC. You do this in a team of
dedicated colleagues, under the supervision of the Director.
Responsibilities:
– Contribute to improving respect for human rights for all people in Curaçao through the work of
HRDC
– Overseeing the assigned project(s) with the support of the team
– Plan, monitor and report on the projects assigned to you
– Create and facilitate project implementation, which identifies sequences of activities needed to
successfully implement the project and ensure project objectives and targets are met
– Report writing and budget tracking of the project to the different donors of the projects
– Coordinate and arrange logistics for trainings, meetings, and workshops, including invitations,
venue, participants travel and accommodation
– Manage referral process in collaboration with HRDC help desk officers to partner organizations
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in International Development, International Law, Political Science or other
relevant discipline
– At least one year of working experience in a similar position
– Experience at working with a team and ensuring strong teamwork and morale
– Excellent writing skills, especially to produce reports
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically word and excel
– Ability to communicate effectively and positively with persons from a range of education levels
and backgrounds
– Affinity with the cause of human rights and the local culture of Curaçao
– Ability to plan own work, setting priorities, and complete it under pressure or when faced with
competing demands
– Excellent written and verbal skills in English, knowledge of Papiamentu and Spanish. Knowledge
of Dutch is an asset
